In gesellschaftlichen Zäsuren wie der Corona-Pandemie manifestiert sich anti-asiatischer Rassismus in Deutschland verstärkt in unterschiedlichen Formen, insbesondere im öffentlichen Raum. Auch wenn sich erst in den letzten zwei Jahren der Begriff anti-asiatischer Rassismus öffentlich-medial und in der Wissenschaft zunehmend etabliert hat, so lassen sich rassistische Narrative zu „asiatischen“ Kulturen, Körpern, Charakteren, mehrere Jahrhunderte zurückverfolgen und deren Wirkmächtigkeit in die Gegenwart aufzeigen. Anti-asiatischer Rassismus ist strukturell und institutionell verankert, der geplante Vortrag stellt in dieser Hinsicht unterschiedliche Beispiele vor und diskutiert sie im Kontext von sozialer Ungleichheit und Aushandlungsprozessen in der postmigrantischen Gesellschaft.
Die Referentin:
Dr. Kimiko Suda ist Soziologin und Sinologin. Seit September 2021 ist sie wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin in der Geschäftsstelle des Nationalen Diskriminierungs- & Rassismusmonitors (NaDiRa) am DeZIM. Ihre Themensch werpunkte:
Kritische Migrations- und Rassismusforschung, Soziale Ungleichheitsforschung, Wissenssoziologische Diskursanalyse, Anti-asiatischer Rassismus aus aktueller und historischer Perspektive sowie intersektionale Aushandlungsprozesse und postmigrantischer Widerstand im Kontext von Identität, sozialer Positionierung, Repräsentation und Macht.

During social caesuras such as the Corona pandemic, anti-Asian racism in Germany increasingly manifests itself in various forms, especially in the public sphere. Even though only in the last two years the term anti-Asian racism has become increasingly established in the public media and in academia, racist narratives about “Asian” cultures, bodies, characters, can be traced back several centuries and their effectiveness can be demonstrated in the present. Anti-Asian racism is structurally and institutionally embedded, the planned lecture presents different examples in this regard and discusses them in the context of social inequality and negotiation processes in post-migrant society.
